Vacuum Sealers

Vacuum Sealers are used to vacuum pack food. Vacuum sealers typically draw the air out of a bag by clamping around the outside of the open end of the bag. To draw a vacuum on the contents of the bag a small vacuum pump creates a void (or low pressure area inside the machine. Small integrated air channels in the vacuum bag allow the air inside the bag to travel from the bag through the vacuum pump in the machine. As this happens the Atmospheric pressure on the outside of the bag causes the bag to wrap around the product. After the air is removed from the bag it is heat sealed. The big draw back to Vacuum sealers is that the same pressure on the outside of the bag that wraps the bag around the product will also squish out any liquid in the bag. This makes vacuum sealing moist items difficult. the other Drawback to vacuum sealers is the cost of the special bags that allow the air to be drawn out using tiny air channels formed into the bag.
